Aussies share Islamic fashion online

Yayyy, the SBS channel had a feature on Muslim women and fashion. The reporter Jeanette Francis interviewed bloggers Delina of Muslim Street Fashion and Mya of Myaz Fashion Spot. My blog Hijabi and the City and Samira's Trendy Melbourne were also very shortly featured. I was wondering where my 5-6 new followers popped up from. :)

Anywhooo.. Enjoy. :)

We are on fire!

OMG peoples, we are burning here in Melbourne, Australia today. I have no idea about the other cities, but today it hit 43 degrees and currently it is approximately 38.5 degrees at 10:00PM. It is said that the lowest tonight is going to be 32 degrees around 3:00AM, and back to 33 degrees at 06:00AM. So we are supposed to wake up to a hot 33 degree morning at 09:00AM.

I know it sounds like a weather forecast, but just trying to emphasize how hot it is. Thankfully we have air conditioning, but I have no idea what people who are not as fortunate did and/or are doing? May Allah help them. I was out of the house in the afternoon as I had to go somewhere, and the radio broadcasted that the current weather at that time was 42 degrees. When I got out of the car I thought I was going to have a heart attack!

My main concern today was the occurence of a fire, but alhamdulillah I haven't heard of any just yet and I hope that it stays that way. If we burn at 40 something degrees, I cannot imagine what we are going to do in the hereafter. May Allah have mercy on us!

Wedding Season

Contrary to other parts of the world, wedding season in Australia is at the end-beginning of the year. Since the summer season (believe me, we are burning in the heat.. but I love summer (irrelevant, I know :) but too bad)) and summer holidays start at the end of the year, weddings take place every Friday-Saturday-Sunday for around 2-3 months. This is one of the main reasons I have not been able to blog regularly for the past 2 months. I am very busy at this time of the year.

If I remember correctly, for the past 5 weeks, almost every Friday-Saturday-Sunday I have been busy styling hijabs for brides, bridesmaids, and maids of honour. I do love and enjoy hijab styling, but due to other work it just becomes overwhelming at times like this. On top of all this there have been a couple of eid festivals where I had a stall... but that's a totally different topic... I will touch on it in a future post... maybe... :)) All I can say is that I have not been getting proper sleep or rest for over 2 months now. I don't know what I would have done if I had a child (or children)??? You mothers out there... especially those of you who work and raise your child(ren)... I admire you!!!

Anyhow, here are a couple of selections from hijabs that I have styled during this period... I have many photos, but I need to edit and organize them... I will share them in future posts inshaallah...

For you... :))
