Happiness and Sadness: Greetings and Goodbyes

It's been a very full and busy week in Melbourne for me. I missed out on seeing some people who are very special to me due to lack of time and having no vehicle... However, I managed to see some friends which was better than nothing I guess...

It's been a week filled with happiness and joy due to being able to see friends and family, but also sadness due to not being able to see them for probably quite some time.

Anyhow, I had a friend pick me up for dinner tonight. We went to the Boathouse at Maribyrnong. It's a beautiful venue by the lake, very relaxing. I like going there, but I have to say their dinner menu sux big time!

At first, I was peeved at their menu. I found it difficult to understand... but that might just be because I'm a little slow to understand... dunno... How many places have "swordfish" on the menu, which is actually pasta... nothing to do with fish?! Then "steak fries", which is only standard fries. The only reason I did not order the fries was because I thought it came we steak. LOL

Yup! Then their wood oven pizza... I'm sorry, that's not pizza! It's not wood oven pizza, it's literally as hard as wood. So yeah, we weren't too pleased with their menu. I could not even find anything I wanted to eat as a main dish, so I ordered the babaganoush with chick peas and Turkish bread, and chat potatoes on the side. I only had one piece of the potatoes and left the rest... it was a little raw...

However, I have to admit, despite the rock hard Turkish bread, the dip was nice, but yeah, it was only a mezze... I have to say I was quite disappointed because their prices were too high for the food they were serving. It's the worst money I ever spent. BUT, if you want to go for a coffee or whatever, then I would recommend... the setting is really nice and serene. It's just very pretty. I have also heard that their lunch menu is better. I don't know, so I cannot vouch for that.

Yup, that's my babaganoush right there :)

I would have added a group photo, but I did not bring my Nikon to Melbourne. Just thought I wouldn't be taking any photos... Oh well, at least I have my iphone, yet the group photo turned out awful as it was night time, so yeah, you gotta make do with my photo. :)))

Ahhh... It's back to dreadful Sydney tomorrow night... at least hubby is there... if he weren't, nothing else would have been able to make me live there :/

Out in Town with the Girls

Lovely weather this evening... A little bit of warm sunshine before sunset... A soft warm/cool breeze at night... and five ladies at Notturno's having dinner topped off with amazing cookies n cream cake. Mmmmm mmmmm!!!

I might just post more of our night out later, but here is what I wore... I just wanted to look smart and casual for Lygon St (you Melbournians know what I mean). :)

Lucky I didn't opt to wear my heels (was almost about to!!!)... it sure would have been difficult to catch up with the girls on our walk into the city after dinner. :)

Oh, and I absolutely love these pants which I had picked up from Crossroads (sizes 8 to 22) a couple years ago. However, I was unable to wear them cos I couldn't fit into them back then. If anybody is interested, I believe I saw some in-store just a few weeks back. I believe it's their continuous stock and they also had it in grey.

Wedding Season

Contrary to other parts of the world, wedding season in Australia is at the end-beginning of the year. Since the summer season (believe me, we are burning in the heat.. but I love summer (irrelevant, I know :) but too bad)) and summer holidays start at the end of the year, weddings take place every Friday-Saturday-Sunday for around 2-3 months. This is one of the main reasons I have not been able to blog regularly for the past 2 months. I am very busy at this time of the year.

If I remember correctly, for the past 5 weeks, almost every Friday-Saturday-Sunday I have been busy styling hijabs for brides, bridesmaids, and maids of honour. I do love and enjoy hijab styling, but due to other work it just becomes overwhelming at times like this. On top of all this there have been a couple of eid festivals where I had a stall... but that's a totally different topic... I will touch on it in a future post... maybe... :)) All I can say is that I have not been getting proper sleep or rest for over 2 months now. I don't know what I would have done if I had a child (or children)??? You mothers out there... especially those of you who work and raise your child(ren)... I admire you!!!

Anyhow, here are a couple of selections from hijabs that I have styled during this period... I have many photos, but I need to edit and organize them... I will share them in future posts inshaallah...

For you... :))
