Hatiku tersentuh ..

Assalamualaikum

" You might be married to the worst man on earth, like Asiah who married Firaun (Pharoah), but it didn't change her (aqidah).
You might be married to the best man on earth, like Nabi Lut's wife, yet that doesn't mean you're going to Jannah with him.
You might not be married at all, like our beloved Maryam yet Allah SWT places your status above all other women on earth.
Have faith in Allah always and place your full trust in Him. He's the central focal point of our lives "

The Turkish Man's Fashion Sense

Some Turkish men love to put thought into what they wear and wear it nicely... contrary to the common belief that they are dirty and barbaric. :P Okay, I am generalising a 'little' here. :)

There are also those who don't care what they wear or what they look like when they step outside. A Muslim, man or woman needs to show pride in what they wear. A Muslim needs to be clean and presentable... even when... in fact, especially when hosting guests/friends at their homes. I am not talking about the amount of coverage here, I am not talking about anything to do with the shape or measure of hijab. The main point here is that we need to be clean and presentable. So for example, please iron your stuff before you wear them. :)

Now, my husband is one of those men who likes clothing items that do not require any ironing... or even washing. :P He's a total brute unfortunately, which means a lot of hard work on my behalf. Although, it's important that he is a good person with pure intentions, so it makes up for it.

The good thing about my husband and his lack of dressing up (I'm not talking about fashion, he has no idea what to wear with what.. ever!) is that I can make him wear anything... almost! I actually need to revamp his wardrobe, but will hold the thought for another year. He has no time to go out anywhere due to his over-demanding job, so it would only be a waste to purchase new items that are just going to sit in the cupboard unworn. Therefore I have just let him be for the time being. He wears anything he gets his hands on and sometimes looks awful :P but I am not saying anything for the time being. :)

Anyhow, I was checking out a website when I noticed the 2012 spring-summer launch photos for a men's fashion brand... featuring Turkish model (he was crowned top model yonks ago) and actor Kenan Imirzalioglu.

I absolutely love the the styles he is modelling for the Turkish men's fashion brand Kip and thought I will share. :)

I absolutely love blazers worn with casual t-shirts!

Loving the plaid blazer with the elbow patches! I've wanted a similar blazer for myself actually! Oh and that weekender... I can do with one of that too! Hmm... I was actually supposed to be keeping my own desires out of this post, but I guess I can turn anything to my own advantage LOL

OMG! Who says scarves are for women alone? Everything I love in men's fashion: Blazer with tee, white trousers, scarf...

There's another scarf! I love the style they've depicted in these photos for Kip.

My vote goes to KAYRA for their 2012 Spring-Summer Collection

Turkish fashion house Kayra, which caters for hijabis has just posted a video on their facebook page with reflections from their 2012 Spring-Summer collection.

My jaw dropped. I instantly fell in love with the colours, style, class, glamour... and I thought: that is what I want to look like!!!

To be honest, about 3-4 years ago, when looking into which brands to import to Australia, Kayra was on the list, but eliminated due to their very backward style... until two years ago I wouldn't take a second glance at their items despite the amazing quality of their products, only because I thought their styles targeted an older audience.

However, as of mid 2010 their styles took a turn for the better, and they seem to be doing great as a result. In fact, I can say in confidence that they have some of the best styles available for hijabis. At that time, another friend who was selling hijab friendly clothing (Sorayya Design) started to import Kayra to Melbourne, and her success was not a surprise with gorgeous products of such quality.

Back in 2010 I was advised by the director of another fave brand of mine (which I was unable to import at the time due to financial reasons) that their designer had transferred to Kayra. I could see the similarities back then, but particularly last season and this new season, Kayra is just doing an amazing job. I can't get over how gorgeous the new designs are, and have never wanted to wear something so badly. :)

Although I promise to put the brakes on my nafs so that I do not overdo the shopping when I get to Turkey (I am hoping, praying, this year inshaallah). I have to work very hard, and I don't intend on blowing it all on clothing... only that which I see necessary shall be purchased. I don't like hoarding.

So yeah, take a look at the video and let me know what you think... I can't wait! Just can't wait! I want to look in the mirror and see me wearing many of these. :P Call me crazy, I call me woman. :)))

Armine Spring-Summer 2012

It's March of 2012, so fashion houses are getting ready to launch their spring-summer lines.

I shared a photo from the Tugba Venn brand spring-summer launch in yesterday's post, and mentioned that it seems there is going to be a change in fashion catering for hijabis (by Turkish fashion houses).

A few days ago I came across four styles from Armine's 2012 spring-summer collection, and noticed that this is not true for them. It seems they are determined to continue with their classic line. That's fine, it seems this works well for them, so why not continue along that line? :)

Looking at the four styles from their new season range, I cannot really say I love or hate... It's still too soon as they usually launch well over 60-70 every season, so four styles are not really enough to determine... While we wait for the new styles to hit the web, here are the four that are currently available to us:

Personally I am loving the trench with leopard print frills and belt, however, that hijab just is not doing it for me. The hijab on its own is a maybe as I like the colours, but I think it's just a little too busy and a bit too much with the trench. A nice plain hijab would probably be the best with this trench. The "less is more" rule is definitely true here. However, Armine has bumped it's prices up further this year, so I would definitely wait for the 50% off sales (if you are in Turkey that is!). Currently, this trench carries a 390 TL (approx. $230 AUD) price tag. When we convert it to AUD it's not a huge difference for us, but there is a 100 TL difference from last year for those living in Turkey. Now I say that's a whopping price increase. Anywhooo

Definitely not liking the trench. The front just looks weird, whereas I usually love Armine cuts. It's probably just this style. The hijab is very similar to many previous season hijabs by Armine as well as other hijab brands. Do I like the colours? Sure do!

This is probably one of their most humble designs this year, but I absolutely love it. Gimme anything in nude tones and I'll take it! I absolutely love the scarf and colour. If I were a size 10 or anything less than that, I would definitely rock this style. I say size 10 and less, because I think this colour really emphasises one's size, and I usually tend to use it in my hijabs and accessories rather than plastered all over my body. :) But that's just me! :)

Hijab.. mehhh... Trench... I am liking it... Liking the colour too...

But seriously, if you ask me, judging by these four styles only, I say Armine has huge competition ahead, and unless they have anything better amongst the rest of their new season range, the other brand names will be the ones leaving a mark this year, not Armine... sadly...

So, while I wait in anticipation to see what's next... What do you think?

I think I really want the first one with leopard print trimmings, but will only consider buying if I can lose some more weight ahahah C'mon, it has to look good if you are spending that much money. :)

A happy Friday to you all. May Allah grant any wishes you have, with pure and sincere intentions... for the sake of this day.. Jummah mubarak!

UMRAH 2012: MADINAH AL MUNAWARRAH

Alhamdulillah ya Allah, for the journey to and fro for my Umrah this year were all smooth sailing. And yes, a big thank you too, for I manage to perform the ever-anticipated event in my life, when I have the opportunitity to do so.

In brief, all I can say is that the experience I had was beyond magical. There were ups and downs during the whole trip. But yes, that was Allah, testing me throughout my pilgrimage. And, with that, I am still ever thankful. :)

We took a flight to Changi, and then transferred to Abu Dhabi, then to Jeddah. The first four days of my trip, we headed to Madinah where my family and me stayed at a very comfortable place not far from Masjid An-Nabawi. All the hotels are usually of walking distance to the mosque, which makes it easier for everyone to perform solah at the mosque as much as possible as one can.

The weather was beautiful too. It almost felt like spring. The moment I first laid my eyes on the Masjid An-Nabawi from afar, the architecture of the building blew me away! And as soon as I reached inside, it felt like I was visiting a close friend’s home. Indeed, it was our dearest Prophet Muhammad’s (s.a.w) masjid.

After performing Solat Tahiyatul Masjid every time entering the mosque, I would allocate a bit of my time observing the interior, the people, the calmness of how everything is inside the mosque. Until sometimes I had to snap myself out of my stance to remind me to continue my ibadah. HEHE.

So, day-by-day went with how my family and me continued to perform solah, dzikr, and recite the Quran in the mosque. One could not really have enough of devoting oneself to Allah in that mosque, y’know? Oh, and one more thing, I found myself really easy to wake up so very early to head to the mosque for Subuh prayers when I was in Madinah. Being a non-early riser such as me(bad shea!), that was incredibly amazing! Cause we had to be at the mosque one hour before athan to get to the front-most saff as possible as we could. It's definitely a practice for me hee.. Thank you Allah, for making it easy for me. :)

The most emotional experience for me was when I was in Raudhah (Paradise Garden). To visit the sacred Muhammad's (s.a.w) tomb, was the highlight of everyone's visit there I must say. But I was a bit sad that there was a time frame, and limited areas for the women to come visit and pay our respects. But, determined me and mommy decided that we would regret it later if we don't visit the tomb. So, we did. SubhanAllah..I really don't know how to describe it to ya'll. We went after performing our Isya' prayers, and later waited for the gate to open. When it did, everyone went running towards the tomb like how people would usually run away from a bomb explosion. It was a stampede! When we almost reached Raudhah, that's when the space became a little bit more smaller. Ya Allah, it was so packed! Like how you place two cans of sardines into one can. (Gosh I'm bad at comparisons). I held my mom so tight, while reciting the dua out loud from the book I brought so that my mom could amen it. It was hard as people kept pushing and pushing to reach to the front. Most of the time, me and mommy were crushed. These ladies are determined!! With a bit more effort, we pushed ourselves further upfront, making us succeed in reaching the front-most area of the tomb. When all of this happened, I was crying profusely thinking of all the past sins I've done :'( I really don't know how to describe what I felt. It was just too emotional.

It was definitely like visiting a long lost friend. Whom I miss so much. They say that Rasulullah (s.a.w) watches you and replies when you give salaam to him at the tomb, and insyaAllah will bless you with syafaah in the hereafter. What makes it more sad is that, here I am, a human being who frequently forgets bout him, while he (Rasulullah s.a.w), was always there for us, his ummah. :'(

Now that I've experience such an remarkable experience in Raudhah, and in Masjid An-Nabawi, I know how important it is, for us, to acknowledge our dear Prophet Muhammad (s.aw) by saying the selawat daily as much as we can. It's the selawat that we continuously dedicate it to him now, is what saves that one little tiny more step to Jannah. InsyaAllah.
