Armine Spring-Summer 2012

It's March of 2012, so fashion houses are getting ready to launch their spring-summer lines.

I shared a photo from the Tugba Venn brand spring-summer launch in yesterday's post, and mentioned that it seems there is going to be a change in fashion catering for hijabis (by Turkish fashion houses).

A few days ago I came across four styles from Armine's 2012 spring-summer collection, and noticed that this is not true for them. It seems they are determined to continue with their classic line. That's fine, it seems this works well for them, so why not continue along that line? :)

Looking at the four styles from their new season range, I cannot really say I love or hate... It's still too soon as they usually launch well over 60-70 every season, so four styles are not really enough to determine... While we wait for the new styles to hit the web, here are the four that are currently available to us:

Personally I am loving the trench with leopard print frills and belt, however, that hijab just is not doing it for me. The hijab on its own is a maybe as I like the colours, but I think it's just a little too busy and a bit too much with the trench. A nice plain hijab would probably be the best with this trench. The "less is more" rule is definitely true here. However, Armine has bumped it's prices up further this year, so I would definitely wait for the 50% off sales (if you are in Turkey that is!). Currently, this trench carries a 390 TL (approx. $230 AUD) price tag. When we convert it to AUD it's not a huge difference for us, but there is a 100 TL difference from last year for those living in Turkey. Now I say that's a whopping price increase. Anywhooo

Definitely not liking the trench. The front just looks weird, whereas I usually love Armine cuts. It's probably just this style. The hijab is very similar to many previous season hijabs by Armine as well as other hijab brands. Do I like the colours? Sure do!

This is probably one of their most humble designs this year, but I absolutely love it. Gimme anything in nude tones and I'll take it! I absolutely love the scarf and colour. If I were a size 10 or anything less than that, I would definitely rock this style. I say size 10 and less, because I think this colour really emphasises one's size, and I usually tend to use it in my hijabs and accessories rather than plastered all over my body. :) But that's just me! :)

Hijab.. mehhh... Trench... I am liking it... Liking the colour too...

But seriously, if you ask me, judging by these four styles only, I say Armine has huge competition ahead, and unless they have anything better amongst the rest of their new season range, the other brand names will be the ones leaving a mark this year, not Armine... sadly...

So, while I wait in anticipation to see what's next... What do you think?

I think I really want the first one with leopard print trimmings, but will only consider buying if I can lose some more weight ahahah C'mon, it has to look good if you are spending that much money. :)

A happy Friday to you all. May Allah grant any wishes you have, with pure and sincere intentions... for the sake of this day.. Jummah mubarak!

To the max(i)!

Hi dee hoooo :) Has been a while, but been busy with stuffs and nothings... you know how it is.. sometimes you get sooo busy with doing nothings that you can't find it in yourself to do somethings! :)

I've been really into the maxis lately... dresses... cardis... all maxis. :)

So here's another maxi maxi outfit... We went out to din din with mum tonight... no special occasion, but just felt like it. :))) Anyways... I have purchased maxi cardigans and maxi dresses in sooo many colours that I'm loving it. :) Me recommends to all! :) Asos has one of the best range of maxi dresses and cardigans I have ever seen. They also have a large variety of prices and regular sale items. They also have an Asos Curve section on the page that caters for us plus sized women. Awesome I say! Give it a looksie I say! The only thing you might regret is not buying! :) They have FREE shipping... I am broke at the moment, but I look forward to buying moooore and mooooore in the future (dunno how soon that will be though LOL).

Oh and my maxi dresses! I found such a bargain at Glassons a few weeks ago. The one I'm wearing in this post is also from Glassons. I bought like 4 different colours. I bought this camel one and a light grey for $12 (reduced from $60), and a black and navy in the same style for $20 (reduced from $60). I saw some more last week, so if you need/want some, go check out Glassons soon! :)

Heaps of love and kisses to y'all!

Oh yes, I got my nose pierced for the 4th time. I always seem to want to change the nose ring, but I can never get the other nose ring in before the hole closes up. It's been over 5 years since my last one and I had been wanting it for a while. So when I saw a place that does it I didn't think twice about it. Just went in and got it done LOL It's very tiny and not too obvious, which is just the way I like it... What do you think?

Photographer Feature: M.D. Photography

Everybody loves looking at beautiful images. Do they not? Okay, I'm generalising, but you get my point. :)

I usually browse around to check out techniques photographers use to shoot and also their rendering techniques. So I save inspirational photos etc etc. You know how it goes...

Recently I have come across some very talented female photographers from Turkey. Today I want to feature M.D. Photography. Unfortunately I cannot seem to find her on Google, I wanted to give her link and everything, but to no avail. :( I just remember her first name being Merve and her surname begins with D (thus the name M.D. Photography)...

I only seem to have saved 3 images from her gallery and here they are... Oh and I have to note, I love the models' poses, but most of all, I love their style! The photographer is also a hijabi. Thought you might want to know LOL

Enjoy
xoxo

This is my favourite. What about you? Which is your favourite of the three photos, and why?

Maxi Dresses Do It For Me :)

Isn't life just that much more easier with maxis in trend? You just pop it on.. no need to layer for extra length/coverage, and voila! You're ready to go. :)

I was actually looking for my niece's black cardi to wear on this (grey would be even better), but as you can see I was unsuccessful. :)

I wasn't going to wear this scarf, but my youngest nephew told me that red looks good with black and grey (and he's only 10 mashaallah!), so I thought what the heck, I can't be bothered with ironing today. :) It didn't turn out too bad, but I definitely need the black/grey cardi and gladiator flats! :))

Have a wonderful weekend inshaallah while I move house. :)

xoxo

All Black with a Splash of Purple

I didn't have too much time to get dressed today, so I tried to go for the basics and achieve effortless chic with the time that was available... oh and let's not forget that I had to use pre-ironed clothing! I'm a freak when it comes to ironing... I can't wear anything that has not been ironed! Noooo waaaay! Even if I am going to be late to an appointment!

Okay, since that's out of the way, let's get to business. :)

Black Long Cardi: Tekbir (from edb Collection) -- this is the exact same cardi to the one I wore here
Indigo Sandblast Jeans: City Chic (From their latest range)
White Belt: Katies
Canvas Vogue Bag: Freebie from Vogue Magazine :)
Scarf: Armine 2010-2011 A/W Collection (from edb Collection)

See you after on/after Eid... most likely :))

I love the stiching detail just below the knees with these jeans. I also love the sandblast effect down the centre of each leg... They definitely make the legs look slimmer!

I know I can never be a hand model LOL but here is my simple but convenient ring :) I like wearing rings around the knuckle :)

Eid Mubarak Lovelies!

Armine: I'm sorry, you can't be perfect all the time!

As Armine rushes to open it's 2010-2011 Autumn/Winter collection to the public before its competitors, I must say that I am slightly disappointed!

Do I hear you ask "Why?" No, I don't, but I'll pretend I did. :)

Well, because they have gone a little slack in their design department! Most of their scarf designs are far from original and classy. It seems as if they have put everything together in a hurry just to have it ready by their deadline.

Hmmm... I shouldn't be so harsh, but I think this is because Armine has raised the bar so high for the past couple of years that I expect them to be the same with each new season.

Anyhow, let's go through some of the styles I picked out from their collection...

The scarf... to be honest, not my style at all, but that's just me! However, I absolutely love the collar detail on this full length coat, so it's a must for my shop!

The scarf... Yeah not bad.. Seen better! The mid-calf trench... I actually fell in love with this when I saw it in the factory so I ordered series and series in a variety of colours such a military green, nude, black, navy.. LOL Honestly, this looks hotter in real life. So if you are interested, you may just have the chance to get yours before it sells out! "Where?" you ask? "At edb Collection" I say. (How corny ha?) :)))

Loving the colours on this scarf, but it just looks very similar to previous Armine designs. Therefore I'm not too crash hot on it. The dress? Different... But I don't think I will get it in for the shop. What do you think?

One of my favourites this season...

The only thing I like about this scarf is the colour! The jacket.. Well it should be burning in Australia by the time this jacket is released, so I don't think I will be getting this in.. It's a little thick for the warmer seasons.

The design of this scarf is a classic... Again, similar to previous Armines, but I love it... The red satin dress on the model.. OMG! It's plain but isn't the tone of red so so so OMIGOSH hot? Loving it... Interested? You know where you will be finding it :))

The scarf is a no no, but again, that's me! The dress... It's a full length one, but I don't know if I'm too keen on it. What do you girls think?

My absolute favourite scarf this season. A MUST HAVE for moi! :)) Anybody wanting to get me a gift? LOL This is also a must have for the shop. Anything with anything to do with Istanbul... I gots to have it arright! (some Aussie accent in there) :)

Yup, not so keen on this scarf either, but the full length dress is really sweet. Here's a DIY project for those of you who might want to get this look. Take out your old necklaces, chains, pearls etc... Take out an old or new plain dress or top.. Then sew the necklaces on as shown in the above photo for a totally smashing look! I am sure you guys can do better and come up with something more original. I will definitely be giving this a go!

The scarf... Yeah yeah... it's okay... but the shirt... I think it's the colour... I'm quite liking red these days... gee I must be aggressive or angry or something? Anyways, I actually liked Tekbir's shirt from last year which was soooo similar to this. Well, while I was in Turkey, I did hear that Armine has a law suit against it due to copying/stealing designs from other brands. The only reason it seems as its designs are original is advertising. They advertise soooooo much more compared to any other brand in Turkey.

I absolutely dislike this scarf. No offense to anybody who likes it.. seriously! But the mid-calf trench is a nice one. They actually had a very similar one out in the previous season (2010 Spring/Summer Collection) in Camel.

Sweet... Pretty... Feminine... Classy... Can you tell I adore the whole package? My favourite style combination in the entire catalogue.. Give me anything in the 'colour' nude and I'll love it! :))

Can you see something odd in this photo? :)) I seriousle cannot believe Armine released this photo as it is! I've been told that they weren't happy with the catalogue so they are printing a new one (I was told after requesting them to send one with the hubster). If this is from the re-printed catalogue, then I wonder how the first one was? Hijab, mid-calf trench... and guess what? No pants! LOL I know that it's been 40+ degrees celcius hot in Turkey so I can imagine that it wasn't easy taking the photos (but surely they must have had air conditioning in the studio), but please, chop the legs off will you? Or is this the new trend? May Allah forbid.. I'm sure it's only a blooper LOL I can't get over it :)
