Wash your hands from the world...

Clean your self from what you accumulated with your hands... First of all, know that you come and go as flows the water. There is nothing that you can call yours in this perishable world. Loved ones and all that you accumulated are slipping through your fingers. You can't keep them just as they are unable to hold on to you. Know this so that you may withdraw your hands from evil and draw close to good. Repent from what you committed with your hands. Let the impurities of the world pour out of your palms.

Ellerinle biriktirdiklerinden yu kendini... Suların akışı gibi gelip gittiğini bil evvela. Eline avucuna sığan bir şey yok şu fani dünyada. Parmaklarının arasından kayıp gidiyor sevdiklerin ve biriktirdiklerin. Ne onlar sana kalıyor, ne sen onlara kalıyorsun. Bunu bil ki, eline değen abdest suyuyla, elini şerden çek; hayra yanaştır. Elinle ettiklerinden tevbe et. Dünyanın kirini avuçlarından akıt.

This passage is from a Turkish book I picked up today. There are some lovely passages in the book that take the reader through all parts essential to salah (prayer) and the author's spiritual notes on each part. This passage is on ablution (wudu). Such a joyful and easy read. I thought I must share some sections throughout the week inshaallah.

I hope you enjoyed it.. I know that with such texts, translations rarely ever give the same emotions, but it's so beautiful that I thought it was worth a try. :)
