I sell scarves, but you already know that, right? You see that's not the point. Ever since I got into this business I have been wondering why oh why it is men that run hijab shops in Turkey. They are all run by men. There is sometimes the rare occasion where they have female workers, but that's about it, they are OWNED by men, the brands are also OWNED by men.
Yikes! I figured out why!!!
Yikes! I figured out why!!!

Ok, I was actually hoping to find larger and brighter photos, but I promise, I will get my major supplier to send me a couple of large detailed photos from HIS shop so you know what I mean.
The above photos are from Turkey's first Hijab Outlet "Esarp Park". One is the entry and the other is inside. However, the photos aren't "loud" enough to make you drool. See this is what I have been trying to explain... If you love hijabs and you run a hijab shop with gorgeous colours and many many styles everywhere around you, how can you keep yourself from:
"I'll take one of that"
"one of this"
"oh and one of that"
"yeah I can take that too"
"oh an this"
"I don't have this colour"
"ah that style is different"
"oh this is nice"
etc etc... the list goes on and on...
It's like, I dunno, some kind of psychological reaction? But to what? I seriously don't know...
Yeah, so this men-owned and men-operated hijab businesses are true to Turkey. I do not know about any other country, but Turkey... Yeah, this is sooooo true! It's probably because Turkish women go more "crazy" on buying scarves? Again, I dunno...
In Australia, until about 2 years ago these Turkish scarves were not so popular. Everybody would just buy fabric from the store, overlock the edges... then came out the craze where we burned the edges of our hijabs with a candle. We used to give a wavy edge to them... I was so used to these that I only used these scarves during my 6 year "holiday" :) in Turkey. I think I wore a Turkish scarf for 4-5 times during my stay there. OK, let's say 6 times, so it's once for every year. :)
However, since I got back to Oz I have been getting used to wearing the Turkish scarves because I sell them and because I can't keep myself away!!! Argh!!! See, now I understand the situation in Turkey! The women go wild.
Anyhow, back to Australia... There are a few shops including me that sell Turkish scarves here in Melbourne, and they are all owned and run by women. But there is a difference to that of Turkey! We do not have as much scarves in our shops as they do in Turkey and our settings are not as professional and as appealing as the ones in Turkey. Although, this is my dream! To have a store filled with scarves, lights everywhere and a store jam packed with colourful hijabs and a few, not too many... accessories here and there. Just like Turkey! May Allah make it come true. Ameen.
I think this is a good place to stop writing. :)
