Hijab of the Week

This week, our hijab of the week is a gorgeous beauty from the beautiful Turkish city Bursa. Remember I had mentioned it in one of my posts a few weeks back? Well, I forgot to add that Bursa is world reknowned for its beautiful A class silk. So much so that a couple years back the Queen of England had paid a visit to Bursa to purchase some...

Anyhow, to the point... This weeks hijab is from a beautiful brand in Bursa, and they are famous for their traditional Turkish porcelain prints. The said porcelain designs (motifs) are inspired by those from the Ottoman era, which make them just that much more special.

This hijab is a typical square Turkish hijab, but I wrapped it around like a long rectangular one. I am actually really fond of this and I wear it with my peacock blue overcoat. I believe they go quite well. I can't wait until the sun shines in Australia so I can team this hijab with my said overcoat, and swap the indigo jeans for white wide leg pants (black ones will do just fine but I like white pants in summer). I have a short black sleeveless dress which I wear over my pants... so all I need now is a thin red belt!!! Now that is going to be a tough one 'cos it's just dang difficult to find plus sized belts in anything other than black! Ooohhh, can't wait for summer!!!! :))

Whoopsie, forgot the photo. Here you go...

Now, I know this is a very traditional pattern, but I'm going to ask you the million dollar question anyway. Anybody likey? I'm asking, because my mum says it looks like something somebody would wear to bed (i.e. nightgown). I beg to differ! So what do you think???

Hijab of the Week

"Week" I say, but it's been over a month since my first and last (LOL) "Hijab of the Week" post. Sowwy beautifuls, but I am back on the ball again inshaallah! :)

Here is this weeks hijab...

This is a long/rectangle shawl scarf by one of Turkey's well-known brands. It is 100% pure silk and feels just amazing. I don't normally wear these shawl scarves except on rare occasions where I just cannot resist the beauty of 'that' certain scarf. I don't think it really suits me, but what I love about this scarf is the cinnamon border that frames it.

What do you think? Love it or hate it?

I'm another year older today

Well... More like yesterday (the 12th) since it is now past midnight in Australia. :)

I am now 32 years old! THIRTYTWO! Wow!
Age 30 had no effect on me. By age 31 I was used to the idea of being "in the 30's", so I didn't even notice it. It clicked to me at 32. Now, I don't feel old. I don't even know if one is meant to feel old at age 32? If I am, then I don't feel my age. Does that make sense? LOL

Well, I think that age should not be all about the numbers, but still, it is so. As those numbers get higher, something changes in us subtly, without noticing. Sometimes we need a little time to notice and at times we don't notice the changes at all. Aaaaanyhoooow... :))

I am going to say that I am going down hill in terms of age, but it's still too early. :)) Alhamdulillah, my business is thriving, developing, and I believe that it will start to grow inshaallah. My dreams and goals are larger than life.

Someone had once said, "if your goal is as great as the cosmos, then you will achieve the world; if your goal is the size of a chicken you will achieve an egg." Therefore, we need to keep our goals high. :) Well, I'll have a go, what's there to lose? :)

Also, someone else just recently told me, "In Jannah (Paradise) -if we can get in inshaallah- us women will be at age 33". Hmm, there is a reason for everything, isn't there? Therefore, age 33 must have some significance for women. I'm guessing the wisdom here may be that women reach "perfection" or "their peak" at age 33? I'm not sure, if I'm still around next year this time, I will see first hand and share with you. :))
Anyhow, a friend told me, "you are getting younger as you age". Okay, she may be just too kind, because she is, but my hubby is too honest when it comes to how I look etc, and he has said the same to me many times. So, I guess I may not look too old. :) At least I feel that way. If age 32 is old, then I don't feel my age. :))) I will put an end to this post with a photo of me that was taken only 2 days ago. AGE: 32! OMG OMG!!! :))

Oh and the gorgeous scarf I'm wearing is from Armine's Spring/Summer 2010 collection. I love it! It's one of the many new scarves that arrived only 2 days ago.

If you are interested in purchasing the Armine scarf in the photo above or any of the others that I have available, all you need to do is Click Here to visit my Facebook group. Go through the photos of hundreds of different hijabs that are available for all kinds of budgets. :) It's a feast just to look at them! :))

Hello World!

Welcome to Hijabi and the City.

I was not sure what to name my blog, so this is just the first thing that came to my mind, because it is by a hijabi… If you ask why “…and the City”, well, why do you need to even ask that?! :)

I have been wanting to start a blog for over 3 years now, but I never got myself to start one, because I thought I will not be able to make regular posts. I really want to, but sometimes life gets a little too hectic which then results in the lack of time. I am also afraid of being boring, because my significant other frequently tells me that I am so! However, men are never really too interested in things that may seem important to us women, are they? Hmmm…

Anyhow… I will include articles of interest, my scarf updates (I sell gorgeous headscarves and shawls imported from Turkey), some tutorials on how to wear the hijab (I know, I know, there are many blogs in the area, but I am also a hijab stylist for engagements, weddings and other special occasions, so I would like to include some of my work too), and more…
xoxo
