This Year's Trend Colour Blocking and My Husband

By now we are all well aware of the year's trend colour blocking. It has become so popular that in Europe, the trend is continuing its popularity in the cooler seasons.

Almost every store in Australia now stocks items that can be teamed in one way or another for the year's trend. Particularly the stores aimed at the 'younger' audience are filled with endless options for colour blocking.

It is possible to colour block with more neutral colours, but the main trend is to go with the wildly bright colours that pop. :)

...

I was helping the hubster at work today. He has a courier run in Sydney Central. We all know that it is possible to see people from all walks of life with varying styles...

Today, we were waiting at the traffic lights and my husband just started to laugh.

Me: ???

Husband: Hahahaha look look! She's wearing orange pants with blue shoes. Muhahahahahha

Me: hahahah don't be silly, she's colour blocking, it's the trend of the year hahahah

Husband: What kind of fashion is that, it looks hilarious.

Ben: Hmmm I actually have a couple trousers on my list of things to purchase this summer: green and blue trousers... Also an orange and a purple blouse!

(My husband who still hasn't been able to get over my blush coloured Sussan blazer objected): No! That's impossible!

Me: Of course it's possible. It's gonna happen alright. :) Oh, and you know my black trousers, I wore the other day?

Husband: Yeah, so what?

Me: They are now selling the exact same one in white, I must buy a pair of those too.

Husband: Ok honey, you buy the white trousers. Don't buy the others.

LOL My husband never says "buy this or that" when it comes to clothing. :) He must be so turned off by the trend that he's willing to let me buy a couple other things. :)

So this got me thinking... I really wanted to try the trend in a couple pop colours for a couple special occasions. However, there are so many people out there who think colour blocking looks ridiculous and hidious. I don't really care, but I didn't feel too crash hot about it when the trend first came out. I don't think I want people to think I look hideous and laugh at me. I'm sure there are many out there like my husband. :)

The woman he laughed at actually did a good job and looked quite good. I also loved the thin blue belt she wore around her wais to match her shoes. She was also wearing a white shirt to tone down the whole colour pop thing.

Baaahh I think I still want to try it - colour blocking with neutrals is also nice, but that can be done whenever. :) I want to try the pop! :))) There was an amazing chiffon pleated maxi skirt in a vibrant purple at Asos a while ago. I still want it if I can find it available. Hmm I really wanted the green trousers too :( I might just give that one a miss, I don't want to get him too upset. :)

One of the most important tips for successful colour blocking is to stick to using two colours or three at most. Using neutrals with the brighter colours will not make your outfit pop out as much and also with neutrals, you can wear the outfit comfortably during the day too. :)

What do you think about colour blocking?

Earth Tones

Yes, I'm back to the earthy tones and neutrals... It's the weather I tell ya! The sunnier the weather, the brighter my outfits. :)

I wanted to wear my longer cardi, but it was not available, so I had to stick with the shorter one this time. And the hijab... well, it's a replica, and I was selling it, but I noticed a thread pull... so what better reason to keep it for myself?!

Oh, and my life conditions are changing, so I need to find a job. A job with regular pay, regular weekly wages. :) It doesn't matter if it's casual, part-time, or full-time. I prefer night shift (LOL) but wouldn't mind doing day shifts. Hmmm.... I seriously don't mind what type of job it is, I need the income more than I need my pride at the moment (another LOL), as long as the job and its earnings are halal... Oh and it must be in Melbourne of course. :) So if anyone knows of any position, please let me know. :)

I have teacher aide and religious studies teacher experience up my sleeve. I've worked as a freelance translator for 8 years, but I no longer want freelance work (regular pay I say!). I have a few years customer service / retail experience (in Turkey and Australia). I also worked as a media monitor(er) in Turkey for 4 years. I have temped as an office admin. I also worked as a checkout chick at Coles during my teens. Does that count? LOL

Sooooooooooooooooo plllllllleaaaaaaaaaaaase if you know anything, send me a message :)

Out 'n About in Sydney

Haven't been blogging since 2010! I've been longing to, but it just wasn't possible.

I've been relocating my shop. Then I went up to Sydney and was on the road for a week. Just got back around midnight.

I love to travel, but as much as I love it, it is sooooo darn tiring... It especially makes me uncomfortable that I can only wear what I take... No other choice! LOL

Sydney is beautiful... One of the most beautiful cities... I also love the weather... Unlike Mellbourne!!! However, I seriously would not want to live there. I got home sick in 2 days. :( The traffic is crazy!

We waited an hour to get into Bankstown Centro (shopping centre) car park, and waited another hour to get out. It was only Thursday! I didn't like much of what I saw at the shops... Probably cos I'm so used to Melbourne shops? So day 1, I asked my husband to take me around to the shops. There were some stores I particularly wanted to see, but I couldn't make it to Baraka Women which I really really wanted to visit. There were some online friends whom I also wanted to meet in person, but hubby's plans would not allow. :( I got to meet at least one of those friends, and it was like I've known her forever. :)) A great feeling.

I would love to one day have an 'blog/FB get together'. What do you think? Good idea???

Anywaysss I will be sharing photos of the beautiful places we saw in further posts, but for now, some of what I wore during my trip...

Roaming the city... wanted to look a little sophisticated LOL

This high waisted stripe skirt is currently my fave clothing item. It was the last one left at Forever New and it's not even my size. It's made of lycra (strechy fabric), so I thought if I can't get into it now, I will soon. :P So I bought it, and very very happy with my purchase. :))))

This amazing place is Bald Hill, Wollongong. Wollong is beautiful... will be sharing more photos later. My outfit is very basic. It was intended to be very comfortable for a very long road trip. :) I wore a cotton hijab which Turks usually wear at home. It's soft, thin, and light-weight, making it great for hot weather and long trips like this.

We drove from Sydney to Wollongong to Goulburn... a country town big on farming and sheep herding (I think that's what it's called?). So I had to have a photo taken in front of the huge Merino just before heading out to Melbourne. :) As for my outfit, you have seen me wear this Sussan tunic before. This time I wore it with jeans and popped on a cropped cardi as it was a little cool at night. Normally I'd wear a longer cardi, but had none with me! :)

Anyone else been travelling lately? Tis the holiday season, so Melbourne is empty!

Oh, and one of my readers from Sydney has emailed me photos of her version of my cake. I will be posting that too soon. :)

Polka-Mania

I have just noticed that I have been going polkadot crazy. I actually used to hate polkadots with a passion.. until this year... Now it seems that every hijab I pick up to wear has polkadots.

Yeah sooo whatever. :) The weather is awesome down in Melbourne today. Mashaallah. So yup, I had to go out... to mum's! :) Not too far, but it's an excuse get dressed. :)

My OOTD can be used as an inspiration for a day at the office... at uni... or anywhere really , but I think that a white shirt always reminds me of school or office work. So you can do whatever you like with it. I'm a real sleepy head today and feel drowsy. So I'm talking nonsense.

I will just post the photos and get it over and done with. Happy? You happy = me happy. :)

I tried something a little different on top today. Initially I had the buttons of my shirt all done up... but then I played around with my belt a little... and remembered an open shirt and cardi look I saw on Michelle Obama in the past. I thought yeah why not! I tried the belt over both layers, but because I have a thick waist (and body LOL) it just didn't look good. Then I though I can try the same look just under the cardi which would also allow the cardi to sit loose over the cinching of the waist and the belt. However, one thing that I would change about this look would be WEAR a longer cardi, and WEAR a straight line skirt. It would definitely look better. Ballet flats would look awesome under such and outfit as would kitten heels.

Pink Cardi: Sussan
White Shirt: Katies
Skirt: made by Me, Myself, edb over 6 years ago :)
Hijab: Armine (from edb Collection)

Some things are meant to be worn over and over again...

You see, a few months back I walked into Sussan... and the first thing I saw was this navy dress... Love at first sight I tell ya!

To be honest, I am fussy with what I buy... and it's only because I know exactly what I want and love... So unless I see it, I will seem very fussy... when in reality I just know what I want.

This dress... I wanted!

My size was sold out, but it's made of excellent quality lycra. So I thought if I lose a few more kgs, I can get into it and look ok.

Well, I did lose a few kgs since I purchased the dress, but I didn't know what to do about the length. When I first bought it, I thought I would wear it with leggings. Yes fine, but when I tried it... it wasn't really the look I wanted.

So the dress hung in my wardrobe for the past few months (3 to be exact!). Every time I opened my cupboard, we would stare at each other... Until one day I decided to layer it with my black lycra skirt. A navy or dark grey one would have looked better (I tried white, wasn't too happy with it)... and you know what? I was quite happy with it!

Now for the top half... It's a sleeveless dress, so yeah a jacket or bolero type of thingy was required... Then I remembered another tie-front crop (lycra) cardi sort of thing I found at Chelsea months ago. I hadn't worn it yet because I didn't like the way it looked when I tied the front. It made me look much older and frumpier.

Anyhow, I had my dress and skirt on... layered... then I wore the cardi... as I was wondering what I could do with it, I wrapped one end around my waist and tied it to the other... just like a wraparound top.... Yep, I turned it into a wraparound top.

Altogether (to me) it seemed like a nice combination. I liked it so much and felt so feminine in it that I wore it a couple of times already within the past week. I received many compliments and many asked where I purchased the dress from -- thinking the entire thing was a one piece... when I told them, they were like, "forget it". :P

I have mentioned before that I don't like having to layer everything, but sometimes it works out great.

Ma ugly but useful feet in pretty shoes :)

Navy dress: Sussan
Stripe cardi: Chelsea
Skirt: Very old... gifted by mummy dearest
Shoes: Williams
Hijab: edb Collection
Sunnies: Dior
Bag: LV (fake)

So what do you think? Did you like my combo?

A Sunny Day Deserves an Outfit Post :)

Didn't do much today. T'was my day off... Mum was making borek (Turkish pastry with cheese n spinach and also with mince... yummo). She called me over...

It was either trackies or wearing something decent. I saw the sun gleam through so decent won over trackies. :))

I purchased this top from Sussan not too long ago, but as soon as I saw it, I knew I shouldn't miss out. It has full length sleeves, it has a great length, and is very thin, making it perfect for summer. I also really like the colours. I have nothing whatsoever in this colour. If the print did not have any brown tones in it, I have no idea what hijab I would choose to wear with it... As I said, I have nothing whatsoever in this colour, so brown was my best hijab option. I have to say though, this tone of brown is my favourite. It's not too dark, not too light, and no reddish tones in it.

Enough about that! Now for the photos... :)

Tunic: Sussan (from their Resort collection - generally to wear over bikinis lol)
Linen Pants: Katies
Bag: Forever New (gorgeous bag but crap quality!)
Shoes: Forever New (again, gorgeous, but crap quality!)

If anybody is interested, I have one more left in this colour at the moment. Priced at $9 AUD... advertisement brought to you by edb Collection. LOL Sorry :))))

We are happy after eating my mummy's delicious borek. I swear, I only had a little bit. :))) But seriously, it was worth over doing it! :) How cute is my mummy dearest? The cam quality aint as good in this photo because it was taken on my iPhone.

New Buys - What to Wear it With

Wanted to go to mum's today, but she called just as I was about to leave home and asked me to come later. Apparently she was going to go plant shopping. Sheesh! What do I do with myself now?

She said it was going to be an hour or two soooo... I thought I will go to a shopping centre and browse around... I can't buy anything, because I don't really have any extra spendable $$$ at the moment...

Anyhow, was checking out City Chic since I was on their website the other day and saw a jacket which I instantly fell in love with. I wanted to see the real thing! :) Oh but I shouldn't have... because I ended up buying one of the last two remaining (only one left in my size).

Something else I wanted was one of their belts. Oh it is so cute and hot... Irresistable...

BUT I now have a problem... other than the non-spending money I spent... :) What am I going to wear this jacket with??? I have no problem with the belt. Put it on anything and it will instantly look hot! I tried it on a few things and was very pleased with the result. So no problems there. :)

As for the jacket... It has a gorgeous cut and fit. Contrary to what I thought, it does not make me look bigger despite the colour. At first I thought I may wear it with a nice pastel floral dress or something, but now I'm not sure. It looks great both buttoned and un-buttoned.

Please help girls. Any suggestions on how I should wear it? It sure looks great directly on jeans, but obviously that is not how I am going to wear it out... so I need hijab-appropriate ideas please. Help! Especially in terms of colours. Yeah sure it will look great on a soft/dusty pink... but anything else???

Here are the photos from the City Chic Website:

The jacket...

It has some beautiful lace detail in the mid section, collar and back shoulders...

Any ideas? I have a henna party coming up this weekend, so I might just wear it to that, but with what?

Over and out

A Walk on the Wild Side

Some may find leopard print trashy, but I have always liked it. I can't really say I ever owned anything leopard printsy, but IN or OUT, I wasn't one to trash it.

Hmm... So today's outfit had to be a quick one, I had no choice. I went for my ever-reliable black maxi (every hijabi MUST have one IMHO) and plain black hijab (it was ready, ironed).

Then I though oh no this is too black. I must do something to jazz it up! What accessory better than a shawl to add colour to a plain outfit? I've had my eye on the leopard print shawl amongst my stock for a while now... but just thought, where and how would I wear it? I am not much of a shawl/rectangle hijab person, so I had kept myself from taking one for myself. :)

Anyhow, I threw it around my neck, and thought... Black jacket? But decided against it, because that would just look a bit too weird. Instead I went for my denim jacket and added a tan belt to it.

I think it turned out better than I imagined. I like this look. It's definitely one I am going to use with different shawls. :)) Oh, and my denim jacket is a cropped one, but I think this look would be mighty fine with a trench, close to the length of the shawl. Must try in autumn/winter! :))

On a final note, I think the shawl makes me look slimmer than I am. So ladies, stop focusing on your problem areas. Everyone has something they are not happy with about their body. Focus on what you wear and how you wear it. It makes a huge difference!

So what do you think?

Have a very blessed Friday, and a great weekend inshaallah!

Over and out
Wog Girl! :)

A Blah Day

Hi dee hooo folks! :) Haven't done an outfit post for almost a week now... All because I haven't really been leaving the house much. Today I'm just going to visit mum and sis. So I used the opportunity to get dressed! Been bored of PJs all week. :)

Today was a really blah day in terms of weather and mood. So yeah getting dressed was an uplift.

Anyhow, here is today's outfit... soft pinks and all :)

Mwah

I love this hijab. It's actually one of the cheapo ones and I ironed a hole into one corner :P but I love it... So I hide the hole and wear it anyway! :))))

Colour Me Pink & My Hubby's Reaction

I worried over nothing it seems, because minus the time it took me to iron my clothes, I found what I was going to wear in 2 minutes. I chose to wear a mini linen dress and pink cardi I purchased on the weekend. I actually wanted to leave it for later since the hijab I wanted to wear with it was hanging at my shop... but there was another I could make do with.. and since I did not want to waste my time (got up later than planned.. as usual...) I went with it.

Oh and I was not meant to shop, but I was depressed, so cut a woman some slack! :) I have my reasons.. I needed retail therapy... Who doesn't? :)

Anyways.. Hubby did not know about my purchases... He wasn't meant to...

Hubby works night shift during the week and his sleep pattern usually doesn't change on the weekend. So he was up all night, but he needed to wake up early for an appointment today.

So I got all dressed and tried to wake him up...

Me: Ismail... Ismail... wake up... Wake Up... WAKE UP... WAAAAAAKE UUUUUUUPPPP...

Him: Zzzzzz.....

Me: Huuuuuu! Get up! You are late! Heeeeyyyyyyyyy!

Him: Zzzz....

Then he tosses over to face where I'm standing, and slightly opens his eyes...

Him: Oh fk!... (He also murmurs something under his breath)

His reaction was at my new items. LOL When he saw the bright pink cardi, he knew right away that I had been shopping hahahah

But did he wake up? Nope... He just asked me to buzz him when I get to work (eventually he woke up)...

Yeah it was a funny moment... May not sound so funny to you when reading it :P But it was funny. Trust me! :))))

Back to the outfit...

I tried to go for cute chic today... The style is probably a bit too young for a woman of 32 years of age, but it's a fun and no fuss look that is all about comfort. :) Oh and my husband who has been telling me off for wearing black and brown for the first 4 years of our marriage is now not so happy that I incorporate colours for the last year and a half... He says I'm too old for pink... Hmmm...

Really? I know the pink is a little out there... but am I too old for this colour? I feel maybe another 3-4 years I can do this tone of pink... What do you think? Does it look hideous on me? I'm confused... I like the colour, but always get influenced by what the hubster says regarding this colour.. maybe cos I'm not too sure myself?

Mwahhhh

I had to do this shot.. with one arm on the mantlepiece :P Please don't mind the unorganized mess on the mantlepiece, I have not yet gone into the decoration part of the house :)

Just for fun! :)) My matching slippers... I wore my tan peeptoe shoes to match my fake tan Gucci bag :)

Love is.... My New Jacket

It was my hubby's B day (capital B cos he's turning 36) on Tuesday... So what better excuse to go shopping? I needed to buy him a pressie... but what did I end up ding?... The obvious. Of course! I bought pressies. For myself too! :))))

One of the pressies I bought for me is the hot safari jacket I am wearing today. I am absolutely in love with it. Not my sister though... She says it makes my boobies look like they're gonna pop out. Well, I can't help it if they gave it a deep cleavage... At least I wear something inside... Anyways... My lovely jacket and only one of the many outfit combos I dream of wearing it with in the near and far future...

Do you like my jacket? How would you wear it? Give me other colour options to wear with this jacket? Pweaaase? :)))

Jummah mubarak my lovelies... Enjoy the weekend inshaallah! :)

xoxo
Wog Girl hahahah

Just fixing my belt... :) While Pamuk takes a short stroll around me... she never goes too far from her babies... how cute :)

Check out the cloud filled sky... and it's week one of summer next week... argh Melbourne weather just kills me.. but we do need the rain as that's what we Aussies live on... rain water...

Safari meets Military Jacket: City Chic -- for those of you plus size ladies who still haven't tried City Chic... you are missing out big time... Seriously! Prices are a little high end but still affordable... when you first look at their stuff it looks a bit too revealing because they usually have the clubbers and youngies chics in mind when designing (my personal opinion), BUT look behind the lines! There is just so much you can do with an outfit someone may use to reveal... you can use to cover... :))

Tonight... All You Can Dance Ladies Fun Night

So I got home from work around 5:30pm and had to be ready by 7:00pm because the sis, the niece, and I plus a friend needed to get to the ladies dance night. I like events like this because I don't really get invited to henna parties or ladies only weddings. All my friends have gotten married and raising their children. So I guess they wont be getting their children married off for another 15 years. My God! If Allah wills I will be 47 by then, and I don't think I would be stuffed much with such events.

Whatever... To the point... I purchased a couple gorgeous dresses (IMO) from Chelsea today, so I didn't worry at all about what I was going to wear. BUT, despite having over 1000 hijabs for sale, and despite owning over 50 hijabs (I give away anything that is good but which I no longer use or throw away what has gone old.. I don't keep scarves for too long... I don't like clutterring stuff I don't use.. waste of space and waste of time especially since I move at least once a year LOL), I had NOTHING to wear with the dress tonight (may Allah forgive me). Nothing would do... I tried on 5 different hijabs, but in the end I stuck with the first one I had tried. Argh! Don't you just hate when that happens?

So, I am now in love with this dress (I never have or keep or buy anything I am not in love with) and it is soooooo comfy, but yeah I wasn't too happy with the hijab I wore. I looked for my plain grey one, but could not find it. I didn't want one that had too much blue or navy... so just made it even tougher for myself.. I guess it wasn't too bad but not what I really had in mind. However, the scarf on its own is gorgeous I think. :))

What do you do when you are not happy with your choice of hijab for the day? Would you still leave the house with it or turn back and change it even though you know you are going to be late for that important appointment? Do you stick with it until the end of the day or do you take a spare with you and change it later in the day?

Personally, I myself have on occasions taken a spare :) I have turned back despite knowing that I will be late. I have also stuck with my wrong choice and avoided seeing myself in the mirror all day long. :))

And here are some photos... :) xoxo

The Make-Up. The Hijab.
Make-up is my usual evening colour. I didn't want to go bright blue, but I used a very dark blue grey for contouring the eye. You can't really tell from the photos but it turned out nice if I say so myself. :P

My new fave dress. Sorry about the bad photos. We took them outside in the dark, and they didn't come out too good because my niece couldn't keep her hand steady in night shot mode which causes blurry photos. These were taken in auto mode. So yeah whatever :)

The bag seemed to go well at home, but these photos show me that it doesn't look as good as I imagined. :)) Oh and the dress looks better in real life. I am going to post the same dress some time in the near future cos I'm surely going to be wearing this a lot this year LOL but this time in better light :)

Now this young lady is a very special one. She is my landlord as well as my friend. Our friendship is quite new, but it is one I hold dear to my heart, because she really and truly is a special being mashaallah. Oh and she is one of the most stylish hijabis I know. She has the funkiest skirts and most gorgeous jackets.

How hot is her jacket?! I also love the top. Oh yeah she too was dancing away all night. :)) So girlies, I think having a few gorgeous jackets in your wardrobe is a great investment! I need jackets!!!

....and my one and only niece... if you are on my FB friends list, you will recognise her from some of my hijab photos. :) I hve a top very similar to this one which I team with jeans or white linen pants and a cardi. great colours for summer!

Today... well, it's yesterday in Oz now :)

It was a beautiful day today. Mashaallah. Always love days like today. We are almost into summer and we still turn on the ducted heating at night. :( For someone who loves the sunshine and warm weather so much, turning on the heating system is just very depressing in spring!

I know I always sound like the weather forecast, but it's a fact, the weather definitely influences my mood. I'm sure it is so with many of you. I think I have SAD.

Annnnywaaaayyyy... Such beautiful weather deserves some photos yeah? :))

My cute new denim shoes from Katies :))

If you are an old follower, you should remember this top/dress from a couple months back :) I am still looking for a nicely cut, hot jacket to wear on top of this. A nice cropped one. Anyone know where I can find something nice?

And this here is one of my favourite plain satin scarves. I absolutely love this tone of red. I call it red, some may call it burgundy. Same s**t, different smell :)) Anyway, I love this scarf... don't you? :P

A Dinner and I "Monochromed" Again

So how have you been? Great inshaallah! Personally, I had a stinkin' day even though the weather was lovely, but alhamdulillah I had a great night. :))

...

There's no such word as "monochromed", I know, but it works, and you know what I mean... So why not use it? :)))

Anyhow... I attended a lovely dinner event organised by an Islamic organisation tonight. It was actually an important event, but unfortunately some of the guests who were invited (well, let's say the majority) did not attend!

For the past few years in Melbourne, the Victorian Police and Australian Federal Police have been organising iftars during Ramadhan to invite people from the Muslim community. This is a part of their effort to understand and serve the Muslim community better.

To show the appreciation of the community, Imams around Victoria (some even made the effort to come from Sydney, South Australia...), Muslim business owners, outstanding people in the community etc were invited along with the Australian Federal Police, Victorian Police and the MP. Unfortunately I was the only Turkish woman (very small number of women!!!) and there was only one Turkish man.

Most of the Turkish community that was invited did not attend. This is largely due to the lack of unity amongst Muslims from different backgrounds (namely Turks and Arabs) in our community. It was sad to see, but nonetheless, it was a very beautiful organisation... yes, it did need improvement, but still, it was a lovely evening... which my friend and I ended with some narghile (shisha). :)))

Sooooo I could only take the photos after arriving home around midnight. Therefore please excuse the creases in my skirt :)

This outfit was originally my Eid outfit... which I was unable to wear for the occasion :( But I finally made use of it and wore it to the dinner tonight, and I think it was perfect for the occasion. :))

Here are the photos...

I was going to go for an off-white scarf with black print, but I wanted to go overboard :) with my accessories, so I thought the print would be too busy and possibly be a sight for sore eyes lol So plain black saves the day once again :)

I love love love all of these items and really enjoyed wearing them all at once just as I had planned to for Eid (but couldn't)

Day & Night - 1 Day 2 Looks

So I had work during the day and an engagement party in the evening. I had no idea what I would wear - for day or for night!

Mashaallah it was the most beautiful and warmest sunny day since last summer, so I wanted to stay away from all black. I recently dug out a skirt I had purchased 7 years ago! I wore it a lot when I first purchased it, but had to put it away once I started piling back on the weight I had lost in the previous year. So I haven't been wearing it for about 6 years. I thought it would be a good idea to team it with tan accessories and a neutral scarf. I wore a summer scarf which is called "yaz ipeği" (pronounced yaz e-peh-ghi, meaning summer silk). It's not really pure silk, it is actually voile satin but the main composition of the fabric is polyester. Yeah I know too much irrelevant detail, but deal with it! :))) It is mainly produced in masses in Turkey during the warmer seasons as it keeps cool and prevents sweating. It's also the lightest fabric ever; so light that it feels like you have nothing on.

Anyways, yeah so I think I ended up with something that reminds me of a safari look. :)

After getting back home from work I didn't really have too much time to get ready for the engagement. I was obviously going to be late, so I tried to keep it as simple as possible. I opted to go almost all black and I knew I wouldn't be the odd one out. Majority of the guests usually tend to go for black at such occasions. :)

I wore a plain black maxi dress and jazzed it up a little with a pretty abaya kind of overcoat which I had purchased online... again... 7 years ago... I could have gone for a plain pink scarf to match the embroidery and lining of the abaya, but I don't have a plain one in that colour and anyways I thought it would stick out like a sore thumb compared to the rest of my outfit. :) So once again I went for a plain black scarf. I added a little colour with nude shoes, nude clutch, and nude ring. Eh, it was ok... I wasn't too satisfied, but I guess it saved the night without too much fuss.

I apologise for the photo quality as I took the photos after getting home and the room was a little dark.

Have a lovely weekend!

xoxo

I know you have seen similar make-up looks on me in the past, but I like going for the smokey eye look on special evening occasions. So there you have it! :)

Wardrobe Staples

The past two weeks have been very unorganised and very tiring for me. Moving, settling in (still not 100%!), looking to buy a car and still not know what we are looking for? Thankfully (NOT) my hubby changes his mind a couple of times a day. By the time I agree with his idea, he has moved onto another idea and is totally against the first idea which takes me a day or so to accept... This means that we never end up seeing eye-to-eye on anything. LOL I'm not exaggerating, seriously! :))

So, I have had my sister look after my shop and haven't had the time to take photos. Today I was at home, did no go out to look for a car, did not do much settling in our newly rented home. I had some little errands, did them and took the time to rest a little. Anyhow, I needed to go out somewhere so I thought I will put together a little outfit. I ended up using wardrobe staple items for the main part of my outfit. It didn't take too long to put together, because you can't really go with these staple items as long as the cut/fit is good. I am not too happy with the cut/fit of my top and jacket. They look too messy and I shall try to utilise them differently next time.

Love

P.S. I thank you all for your lovely comments and feedback on my previous post. I shall repond to all comments and emails shortly.

I love my bag... Can you tell? :)

After seeing these photos I noticed that the top is too short for ME to wear with jeans/pants. However, I was rushed out of home without being able to see in a full-length mirror. And yeah the jacket looks sloppy and messy. So when I say "staple items" I actually mean a black jacket/blazer, pair of jeans, and a white top. :)

A closer look at my scarf/hijab. I really like this, but I think I am getting over the colour. It is a nice soft blue colour, but I dunno I think I just got too used to seeing it. :)
